Dear Selma,

Reference to your original post 'Open letter to Goan Catholics', I thought I saw acute sarcasm there. Therefore my reply. Since the thread continues, I detect acute 'paranoia' instead of sarcasm, which is very undesirable for Goa and Goans.

There was a time when the who is who in Goa (prominent Goans) came to terms with Gujarat's 'Godra', when we heard remarks like " Goa is Goa", Godras cannot happen in Goa. But that laisez faire attitude was jolted with the Curchorem-Savordem riots.

There was a special meet called by the secular goans at the TB Cunha hall post Curchorem-Savordem riots in order to find ways and meams to heal the wounds created by those riots- the first of its kind in Goa (I mean riots). When late Ulhas Buyao took the mike, he was going into the cause of the riots. But he was stopped short by Aurora Couto explaining that this meet was not to go into the cause of the riots but to help the victims. That is when I stood up and let Aurora Couto have it to the extent that I accused her of trying to powder the boil which has surfaced and oozing , superficially instead of getting to the roots to find out why the boil is there in the first place. What happened later was history which I have already talked about on many occasions.

What is happening in Goa, as in the rest of India, is nothing but a COMUNNAL MASTER MIND at work directly related to RSS-BJP in Goa on the one side and the Maha appeasement of the illegal vote-bank on the other by the CONGRESS. Both these guys are eying the seat of power for their common goal...... to loot Goa. Advani showed the way that by destroying the Babri Masjid, he could bring the BJP to power. They want to repeat the scene since these people have nothing else in its place. Just the hollow, resounding tin -pot.

The solution is simple. Throw both these guys out from the soil of Goa, and there, everything will be alright, automatically.

There are many who will be incensed with what I have said above. But the fact remains a fact. Our temples are getting desecrated. This is the sign of the impatience for the out of power RSS-BJP. I would first look at the RSS-BJP angle before taking pot shot elsewhere. Goa has never seen any place of worship desecrated before in the more recent past. Why only now? And, the eve teasing scene etc. is just the excuse for giving vent to the impatience of being out of power for the BJP and its allies. And the equally communal and corrupt Congress is cosying up to it to consolidate its vote-bank galore.

Selma, do not exhort Goans to flee Goa. They do not want to. They will remain firmly rooted in Goa and see the end of these two charlatans from Delhi along with their accomplices who are fishing in the murky waters left behind by these two. Goans shall not be taken for a ride, even if there may be a handful of them, the bonafide and true to the word GOAN.

Subject: [Goanet] The Swords are a dangerous precedent

My dear fellow Goans. Two days ago I made a perhaps shocking post urging Goan Catholics to leave Goa. Now, let explain why I am so alarmed. There are times in our lives, when even the most secular of us cannot find hope in India. What little hope was left in me has dissipated reading some of the emails that have cropped up on Goanet.

The swords are an extremely dangerous precedent. Tensions are already high in Goa. There is a virulent fear that we are being over-run by migrants. There are a number of extremist groups operating on both sides of the aisle. I hope and pray that another Gujarat is not in the offing in Goa.

My fear is this :the next time, a pretense such as "eve-teasing", a term coined wholly by Indians and used only in the Indian subcontinent, to spark off a communal riot, then rest assured someone will spot a sword being wielded in the crowds. Whether this sword is real, mythical or the figment of someone's alcohol-fueled imagination will be the debate only after mass mayhem has ensued as a result of this sighting. Like I said there is always the hope that things will change in Goa and India, but that hope grows more distant everyday.
