Today's TOI had a story headlined "Mopa will create jobs, says Cong". The Congress spokesperson Jitendra Deshprabhu said that the new airport at Mopa would create an estimated 7000 jobs and "many new vistas" for self-employment.
There is of course a proforma reference to Dabolim. "The Congress always said that Dabolim should co-exist". Obviously this needs to be fleshed out a lot in a convincing way. Thus when he says 7000 jobs will be created by Mopa, he should have added that NO jobs would be LOST at Dabolim civil enclave and in related activities especially inadvertently over the years due to sheer government ineptitude. Then people may be more receptive to the Mopa project. It is time for people to move away from well-worn "us vs them" cliches about Dabolim or Mopa and talk and act about BOTH in tandem. Is 'win-win' thinking and action alien to Goa?
