Thanks FN,

For that matter there are about 800-1000 trawlers in Goa and almost all are
Goan owners but people working on them are over 20,000 non-Goans.
(recently, about 15,000 had gone on long holiday to their native places and
will be back next month or after the annual ban on traveller fishing is over)

Boats/Canoes too are owned by Goans but all those working on them are not.

For that matter, there must be about 1000 Goan builders in Goa but people
working for them must be 100,000 non-Goans at various construction sites

Mines owned by Goan but most people work there including the truck drivers,
barge crew etc are non-Goans.

I have also noted, some bar/Restaurants/hotels owners who are Goans but run and
managed by non Goans.

Margao-Vasco-Panjim-Mapusa etc market/vendors are full of Non-Goans

Local markets like Cansaulim, Agassaim, Goa-Velha, Verem, Calangute etc etc too
captured by Non-Goans.

Total of all the above I would put to around 6,00,000 and by next 5 years it
could be 50:50 and if allowed to continue for next 10 years, it could look like
25:75 (lower fig. being Goans).

I have nothing against non-Goans. Infact, we cannot manage without them.
However, right now they are far too many (more than necessary) and more and
more are added day by day. Very soon, the direct train from Orissa will bring
in upto 1500 every week (up to 78,000 per year of which 50& could be migrant).
There are other trains too.

Just wondering what would be Goa's demographic outlook say after 10-15 years.

Where our Goa would be by then!

In the mean time, our MLAs/Ministers will continue making hay while the sun
shines. Thenafter, the new ministers etc would blame the past ministers for the
fiasco, and then they/we may say 'it's too late now'

I'm sure... But his employer is Goan, and so are the bulk of his customers.
So, we have to still keep figuring this out :-) FN
