Y/day's(17th) TOI Goa edition did not have the poll maybe it is coming
today. Kindly check today's edition and if the poll is there please mobilise
people to poll to say NO to moving to Central University status. As
explained when we spoke y/day the entire assets of Goa University valued at
approx. Rs. 4000 crores goes to the Centre. But more of concern is that Goa
students will be limited to a 10% quota for seats at the university once it
becomes Central. Thus another of Goa's assets is being taken away from us.
Some of the professors at the University, one of whom spoke to me y/day, are
not too keen on this transition even though it will give them an additional
5 years service at the Central University whose retirement age is higher. I
will be writing on the issue in the papers and would value your support any
which way you can.
