Dear Selma,
Thank you. Your email below does justice to the alumni and faculty of Goa
University. I am NOT one of them, as Goa University does not have Agricultural
courses yet [and I am proud to be a gardener ...and did that at Goa University,
too]. The Goa University is good. It can get better if we all support it.
It would be nice to have a Central University in Goa in ADDITION to the Goa
University. Perhaps, the Govt. can give one of the SEZ properties to set it up.
Verna SEZ [to be vacated by the Rahejas] would be ideal as it would be close to
BITS-Pilani, Goa campus, PCCE, Fr. Agnelo's Education Complex-Verna ...and
Dabolim airport! Once Zuari Industries shuts down the fertiliser factory, it
can expand on BITS. Verna is centrally located for a Central University.
An educational hub is suited for Goa's needs. So what if we need to import
faculty now as we did Maths and Science teachers in the 1960s? Goa already
produces more Ph.Ds each year than it had in all the years put together from
1510 A.D. till 1970!!
Mog asundi.

Miguel,
I have to apologise here to the alumni of Goa University, because I momentarily
got confused between Goa board and Goa University. Also on the same day there
was another post on Goanet against the proposed educational hub in Goa. All
this put together made me see red and green.
Now, I understand the dynamics with regards to seats and there is a tangible
argument here for maintaining both the state and central university. So good
luck at the citizen's meet.
