Infotech corporation which has skimmed of hundreds of crores of land and money is no different. Narvekar is a cunning fellow and he can easily deceive a naive mindset like Floriano's. He has this strategy of appointing a respectable person as a director (in this case Prof. Kamat), give him a foreign trip or two, and buy his silence. A full bright scholar such as Prof. Kamat should have seen into this, failing which I should say that Prof. Kamat is tacitly complicit. When I was appointed director, Narvekar --- who was wearing a chaddi and a T shirt when I went to meet him at his house --- smilingly told me that when you are coming from Bangalore to Goa for the board meetings, you can charge whatever expenses you want --- you can stay in any hotel -- and bill us. Buying cars left, right and center at tax payer's money (Infotech has 5 crores a year budget just for these routine things), giving out contract for CCTV cameras and what not (remember there are good cuts in each of these), building a cricket stadium or doing other work which should be actually done by PWD in Narvekar's constituency are other things that this corporation does which I know. Given Narvekar's mind, there may be many others which we are not aware of. If RTI applications are to be filed, they need to be filed intelligently. In a last RTI application filed by Floriano, he asked --- what is this you guys are doing at tax payers' money, will Infotech create jobs for local people? A one line reply came --- yes we will create jobs. :-) Floriano had spent three months to get this answer. If you are not able to get the intelligence to match Narvekar's, better is you take advice from people who can help.
