The executive has almost total control over the budgetary allocation made for the judiciary. It is deplorable that the Chief Justices of the High Courts have to approach ministers for adequate funds". Well said. When my son died in a road accident, a minor at the wheel( No third party involved, straightforward case),it took 12 years to get a verdict.Since I wanted some justice for loosing my teen aged son, and also to avoid some other promising life lost in such accidents,I knocked on the doors of the High Court(PIL) and closely followed the case in the lower courts.Ironically, the only Justice resulting was from the 12 yrs time and trouble and lawyers costs the guilty party had to endure!Since then I have personally fought cases in the Consumer Court, and attended Civil Courts,Tribunals and Cooperative Courts. The Conclusion I have drawn: The Whole System is comfortably operated by Judges and Lawyers.Judges dont do their homework on each case.If a judge is transferred, case must be almost heard de novo. Dating is notorious. Lawyers take up too many cases and sometimes get them mixed up.I cant list all the ills . Contempt of Court is nothing compared to THE CONTEMPT OF PEOPLE. True,it still remains our last bastion.Unless the morality/ values of the people operating and in fact milking/ making nuse of the System changes, nothing will change for the aam admi. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- **** http://www.GOANET.org **** --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tri Continental Film Festival 2008 July 25 - 30, 2008 Goa, India http://www.moviesgoa.org/page/tri_continental/ http://www.moviesgoa.org/tricon/schedule_2008.pdf ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
