The real issue began when I stated, "We are not flattered" a la the royal "We are not amused" in response to you post which referred to VICKY LALWANI'S write up in the Times of India. The veracity of the article itself is questionable in as much as a) The house is certainly not a heritage house; b) the house is situated opposite Dominican House in a vaddo known as Pirazona peopled by your friend Floriano). The roads in the vaddo are so narrow and in such pitiable condition, that they make navigation by car a test of driving skills. Now which bus, even a Goa Darshan Bus, would leave the well surfaced Aldona - Mapusa Road and venture into such a road for a probable glimpse of C. J. (if at all she is in residence and exposing herself to public gaze)? The tour operators in Goa may be anything, but numb skulls they are most definitely not. So the claim that buses stop for their passengers to catch a glimpse of C.J. is patently false. c) CJ hardly exists in the mental map of the vast majority of the locals who frankly speaking just don't give two hoots whether she is a budding actress or a plain nautch girl. The imagined obssession for her merely exists in your mind and that of VICKY LALWANI'S or CJ's PR man. But then as I said earlier, Mario dear, you digress. You are nitpicking (go on say it, "I am name calling, branding, labelling......'') It appears that you want a slang fest based on words and not the meaning of sentences, MG: OK, Tony. You are out. But don't complain when the other Goan banias participating in the boom leave you behind. Me: That's perfectly fine by me. George Bush, Barack O'Bama, Mittal, Ambanis, and lots and lots of other people (including you who are a bhatcar by your own admission) have left me far, far behind. So what. I am not complaining or whining. That I am complaining stems from your own imagination. I am merely stating the obvious. And if others are benefiting from this boom, good luck to them and you also. MG: No, I would call these instances fraud. The last time I checked entire developments came to a screeching halt when the "dead" heirs showed up, alive and kicking and screaming, and began litigation. Me: Arre Baba, do you read the local newspapers? How many other fraudulent developments in Goa have survived without coming to a screeching or screaming or howling halt? MG.:But, thanks for making my point. "Instances" do not qualify everyone who sells their property for being called names like "black sheep" or worse. Me: Please read the text of my original statement carefully. My Original Statement: (#911) While the family or the blacksheep of the family who sold the house may have benefitted...... Now, come, come! You call this a sweeping generalization? Get to basics mon cher. MG: Yes, sir, I did. I used an excellent lawyer whose biggest client was my old employer, Tata's, just to make sure he treated my case with the same care as he used for his largest client whose business he could not afford to lose. Me: A excellent piece of name dropping to cloud issues. MG: Thus I did not have to worry about anyone's reputation for honesty which can quickly change in a place like Goa. Me: Aaaah, this is what your much vaunted economic opportunity does to people. MG: To begin with, it's kind of hard to see that compound wall from where I live:-)) Me: So don't shoot off if you don't know what you are talking about. MG: Secondly, I will be glad to go see Celina the next time I am in Goa. It's about time I met her. If you can send me her phone number and I'll be glad to call her from here, on behalf of the entire village of Moira, none of whose residents can apparently come within her social reach and so need my help:-)) Me: Celina Jaitley: www.bsnl.in/onlinedirectory.htm You were the one who suggested that Celina Jaitley could make vital calls to help Moira. Now here's your opportunity to make good that expectation. Go right ahead. Make that call. Don't hesitate. Now's your moment. Lift the receiver and dial away, Trrrng, trrng. BTW the ISD code to India/Goa is +91832. :-P) Whether or not the residents of Moira even want at all to come within her social reach or ambit is highly debatable. MG: Besides, if her wall is illegal, why haven't you taken some friends with cricket bats and had a little chat with your Sarpanch over a cuppa chai, or better yet a bottle of fine feni after working hours? Me: Intimidation and bribery are the tools of despicable louts. MG: Au contraire, mon ami. You are assuredly part of the problem for sitting back and complaining instead of organizing and helping elect honest politicians. Go see my friend Floriano. He'll give you something positive to do. Me: Hello, hello, you've got the problem part all scrambled up as all NRI Goans. When was the last time you voted in India if you have a vote? How many honest politicians in India have you elected? I don't need your suggestions to see your friend Floriano as I know his capabilities (birds of a feather flock together?). He was my class mate. What are you some sort neo Dale Carnegie? Think positive, do positive, preach positive. MG: Don't blame those of us who support you when you make sense and blast you when you don't. Me: What support, what sense? Who you? MG: If it weren't for us there would be even more bhailes and Ghantis buying property in Goa. Me; Now you are changing skins. Once you said that these people were "so necessary for Goa's development" and now you want to exclude them. MG: I would like to see more Goans and Goan NRI's invest in Goa, but I'll gladly take top shelf outsiders like Celina - perhaps even over some Goans. She is putting her money where her mouth is. You can't ask for more than that. Me: Oh, ho, ho. So you are being selective now are you? What happens to those individuals so necessary for Goa's development in your own words? Have a green card for them? MG: Tony, you worry too much. You should know that I was born at night - but it wasn't last night:-)). To begin with I don't rent my property. Secondly, I have a LEGAL compound wall and a society to look after my property and a snarling non-Goan securitywallah who keeps out the riff-raff and gives loiterers the finger:-)) Me: You and Celina can keep yourselves to your own self imposed ghettos.
