Talking Photos: Our short trip to Delhi After boarding Goa Express Train from Vasco da Gama at 3.10pm, it arrived Agra Cantt at 3am (after 36hrs) where we broke our journey to visit Agra Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
We then boarded Delhi bound train same day at 2pm (we used our same ticket which was booked upto Goa-Delhi/NZM). Note: If you wish to break the journey, the booking clerk must be notified at the booking counter, then on arrival take an endorsement either from the TC or Station Master. Again, just before the onward journey, the TC or the Stn. Master will validate your ticket for that particular day and train. I was not aware of this types of facilities. Thanks to the various feedback received in response to my earlier ‘Delhi Accommodation, a query’ At Agra, we booked a room just to refresh ourselves (Rs.300 for 4). Then left for sight seeing at 10am. Visited Taj Mahal and Agra Fort only- See video. Delhi: Although we booked Delhi Goa Sadan Accommodation (paid 50% in Goa i.e. about Rs.500 for 4 people for 3 nights Dormitory Accommodation as no room were available) our Auto-Rickshawala on the way to Goa Sadan showed us a large 3 bedded A/c room and with extra bed, the owner finally brought it down to Rs.1000 per day/room. The hotel was in Pahar Ganj/chuna Mandi mostly hotel area with many foreign tourist seen around. We also found out (on the last day) that this place is also very notorious for crime related cases. Next day we book a/c car for sight seeing Rs.1200 for 8 hours or 80 kms. So, we visited India Gate, Lotus Temple, Kutub Minar, RajGhat(see Video) Indira Gandhi house/museum where she was shot dead and Red fort saw from the moving car only. Didn’t want to take the bus tour as we did not want to visit some places they show like other temples, their favourite restaurant and shopping area. Moreover, bus tour charges were Rs.300 per head so 4 x 300 come to same as a/c Car charges. On two nights we had to come back from India Gate as they put all the light off (illumination of India Gate) by 9pm although there were many people around even late nite. Don’t know why they put off lites by 9pm. We were watching TV from our hotel room about the ‘Breaking News’ on Bangalore Bomb Blasts... The next nite when our train reached at Vadodara Road in Gujarat, our TC suddenly come from no where at around 10pm and advised us to keep the doors shut as there were 12 bombs exploded with 20 peopled dead in Ahmdabad which is also in Gujarat. Just imagine the state of our minds after hearing the news! We were having our dinner and suddenly we lost our appetite. And what more? Our next station was the infamous Godhra Station. Thanks God! Our train (Goa Sampark) arrived Goa safely next day 5pm but 2 hours late as usual.
