Dr. Jack Sequeira was a great man. He was a good businessman, a good orator and
an honest man. He raised a good family, broadminded enough to have a Mehta and
a Sukhija as sons-in-law inspite of his strong love for Goa. Mark of a great
man, without a shadow of doubt.
The Opinion Poll was won because of the foresight, intelligence, connections,
finance and amnpower mobilisation of Vasudev M. Salgaocar and his associates in
the iron ore mining sector. Look at the voting statistics across the 28
Assembly constituencies of Goa of 1967 and then write what you think of the
voting percentages and distribution of votes in Salcete and Mormugao v/s the
rest of Goa. Valid votes? Bogus, Saiba. ;-)
Dr. Jack de Sequeira won the "Opinion Poll" as much as Oscar Rebelo is won the
repeal of the "Regional Plan 2011". the victories are of the circunstances and
the necessities. Otherwise, ask Oscar to form another movement and get the Goa
TCP [Amendment]Act, 2008 repealed in the upcoming session of the Goa
Legislative Assembly ...or even get the Task Force to make a recommendation
that the Distict Plannig Committees [and not the Task Force] should prepare the
spatial plans as per the Constitution of India and the law in Force.
What sacrifices are you talking about, Lino? Do not make a martyr out of a good
man. Dr. Jack Sequeira was a good man, not a martyr as he is often portrayed
unnecessarily ....like trying to make Mother Theresa a saint when she is dead.
She was a living saint ....of great service to the living. By trying to make
her into a saint, she was ridiculed by people who otherwise respected her. Let
us not do that again.
