To Goanet - If Mopa goes ahead, Goa will cease to be. The last sanctuary of the civilized, pleasant living in India will be indistinguishable from the stinking, cacophonous bog that is the rest of inhabited India.
I fear that insidious attempts to debilitate opposition to Mopa have been initiated (see letter in today's Herald). The cash at stake here is of Himalayan proportions, and even national politicos will be in on the take. The same old chestnut is expected to stoke the fires once again: divide Goans on religious lines although this discord will be cleverly inaugurated as geographical. The ploy will be to cast it as a North Goa v/s South Goa divide, with the claim that South Goa (you know what that is a code word for) wants to stand in the way of a prosperous North Goa (you know what that stands for). There are enough dunderheads available on either side to take the bait. Regards, r
