Hi Rajan,

Thanks for the lovely pictures of the Siddhanath parvat. Those did bring
back nice memories. I have always been fond of wilderness areas, and Goa
does have a fair share of these. These spots where nature is still king,
are the ones where silence speaks out. Most of the times you will be the
only person around, and you can hear sounds that can hardly be
registered in other places.

I agree with you such areas should be left as they are, and we should
not interfere in their ecosystem. Because every time any development
(like building roads) is done to make them more accessible to tourists,
the decay of that place is sure to start. I may not agree with you that
the road to Siddhanath should not be built as 'bhaile' will take over
(which cannot be stopped till there are legislations in place or people
stop being greedy), but I am definitely against that road (if it is
being built) so that the sanctity of that place (or any other place
which nature calls its own) can be preserved. At the least, we owe that
much to our conscience.

Cheers,

Prasad Raicar

To Goanet -

The shrine of Siddhanath (a form of Shiva) atop

the eponymous hill near the village of Borim lies

370 m above sea level. It is not a frequently

visited site for access is not easy. A 45 minutes

trudge uphill is the only way to get there. However,

there is recompense for the calories burned

in the form of splendid vistas of the Zuari river

basin below.

Thanks & Regards,

Prasad Vaman Raicar
