To Goanet -

The selling of Goa has shifted into top gear.
Until Goans come out into the streets and
stop this, Goa is toast. The prospect of owning
a place of his own in their own homeland is
now a fast receding dream for 99% of Goans.

See below. The usual suspects are prostituting
Goa for the benefit of rich outsiders. The Margao,
Panaji and Bardez builder lobbies are represented.

Excerpts:

If you’re looking at investing in property or buying a second
home, then Goa may still be you’re best option. Nature is
doing for Goa, what IT did for Bangalore and Hyderabad —
send land prices soaring!

“Goa attracts second home buyers for whom a loan rate
hike does not make much of a difference. So the prices
are still increasing,” said Dattaprasad Kamat, proprietor,
Kamat Developers.

A lot of agitation has put a halt on many upcoming
projects but the demand for a home still continues.
Obviously prices will shoot up,” says John Britto, director
of Acron Developers.

A recent study by the Goa Chamber of Housing Association
states that to cater to the increasing number of tourists
flocking the state, Goa would require over 1,10,000 hotels
and housing developments by 2016. Says Dutta Naik,
president of GCHA, “People will keep coming to Goa, but
the rooms available are less. Obviously prices will shoot”.
