2008/8/26 Santosh Helekar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 1: Both Jose and Fr. Ivo are Catholics who believe in miracles.
2: Jose has always said that he believes in them because of his faith.... Dear Santoshbab, May I agree with #1 above and disagree with #2 - as stated by you? In my clinical experience (of some years now) there have been some unexpected cures / recoveries. They have been amazing and wonderful occurrences inexplicable by our current knowledge. Until I find scientific explanations for the cures, I will call them miracles. It has nothing to do with my faith (i.e. religion). It has everything to do with my inability to find a scientific explanation for them. Permit me to add that I have a great deal of skepticism wrt the so called "Faith Cures". For while Faith and a positive outlook to life help patients to deal with various illnesses, there is a dark side to this....especially to blind faith followers. There is a "Faith" which forbids the use of blood transfusion even in life-threatening situations. Others will have their blind followers believe that "Higher Sciences" will cure serious brain infections, and still others (while not religious) has believers in miraculous cure of AIDS by the drinking of carrot juice. That is why I suggest that the Church needs to have an open investigation of unexplained cures. Was there an illness? Was it coincidentaly treated by a drug which was used for another purpose? Can there be another reason for the "cure"? Is it really a cure ? To do this, it must open the hearings to the various Scientific Societies. Until that happens, there will be no accountability for the decision. Secrecy of Committees is never beneficial to the credibility of the deliberation. Transparency is. This is my last posting on this thread. I'd like to suggest to Fr. Ivo that much of what he writes is near-unreadable. He may wish to correct this by formatting his posts adequately. At the moment, it comes across as a New Orleans Jambalaya. He takes much time and effort to write. I trust that he would please make it a wee bit easier for us to read what is written. good wishes jc
