Here is another view of Broadband service in Goa from someone who has
discontinued the service.
With Broadband service my access to the Internet was sporadic and subject to
sudden disconnections. Often times I was unable to get linked to the Internet
at all. I tried at various times of the day and night, and could not discern a
pattern.
I made several complaints at the Telephone Exchange in Porvorim which serves my
home.
At first they said they would change the line leading to my home. That did not
help. They tried other things (supposedly), but it did not work. When I
continued to complain, the person in charge of Broadband service said that the
problem was the distance of my home
from the Exchange. Apparently I was the furthermost subscriber from the
Telephone exchange in an area where they cannot guarantee Broadband service.
They said that at the most they could guarantee Broadband service upto 3.5 km
(length of the telephone cable) from the Exchange.and I was beyond the limit
and should not have been given a
connection in the first place. Now they tell me, after 2 years of frustration
!!!!
If any one has any ideas of how to link up to the Internet, other than BSNL
dial up service which is slow and unpredictable, I would appreciate your
letting me know.
