Goa's Tiatrist fraternity,will converge at the 'Pai Tiatrist Joao Agostinho
Fernandes", Indoor Auditorium, at the Ravindra Bhawan Complex, Margao, on
the 29th August 2008, at 1 pm, to observe the 61st Death Anniversary, of Pai
Tiatrist Joao Agostinho Fernandes.
Prominent Tiatrists, along with wellwishers of Konkani Tiatro, will garland
the portrait of "Pai Tiatrist", prominently displayed at the entrance of the
hall, at the Ravindra Bhawan Complex.
This will be followed by paying oral tributes to the immortal legend "Joao
Agostino".
The "venue' is available for just an hour, hence all are expected to be
present, in time.
Late, Joao Agostinho Fernandes, was fondly referred to as "Pai Tiatrist", by
his own contemporaries of around 1920, for his immense contribution in
setting-up, a strong foundation, to the Konkani Tiatro, during its most
difficult times.
Still, however, Shri Joao Agustinho Fernands, himself, in all humility,
acknowledged, Shri Lucasinho Ribeiro, as his "guru"in Tiatros..
Pai Tiatrist Joao Agostinho Fernandes, was the first to :-
- Write Original Scripts for Tiatro, based on Social Themes.
- Introduced Original Goan Music into Tiatros.
- Started the system of variety in songs (Solos, Duets, Duos, Trios,
Quartets etc.)
- Started the system of Tiatr in 7-Acts.
- Started publishing Books of his Tiatrs, for Goans to read, and store for
posterity.
- Introduce Women, on the Konkani Tiatro Stage.
- Work towards introducing social reforms, through Konkani Tiatro.
