Hi Selma,

Reference to your post, what ever your views or personal feelings about Dr.
Barad or any one else for that matter are your very own opinions and since ours
is a democratic country every one is free to express one’s self, may it be you,
Dr. Barad or any one else, but when we do express our opinions, one must
make a humane effort not to be racial, not to hurt religious feelings and not
to “institutionalize” our views.

I am shocked at your statement and your attack on Loyola was uncalled for and I
strongly resent  your following statement   “I take it they
weren't particularly effective at Loyola's, in teaching any language” Loyola
has been an institution par excellence and there are just a few in Goa who have
served and are still serving Goa and Goans the way Loyola has. These
institutions are far, far “Greater” than you, me, Dr. Barad  or any one
else in Goa are, or will ever be, and none of us will be able to do the
services that these iconic institutions have done and are still doing, so
please refrain from ridiculing these Educational Institutions. We should infect
be, indebt to all these Educational Institutions.

You may be very good in what you do, but remember that every one is not the
same in all spheres of life, each one of us have different talents, not every
one might be as good as you in English but they may be good in other
disciplines that does not mean that the institution has failed to develop these
other talents. Educational Institutions are a platforms for all of us from
where we launch ourselves and it depends on each one ability as to from where
we take off and how high we reach.

Dr. Barad is a doctor by proffession and I am sure he did not buy his degree or
trying to bullshit his creditiantials like our elite Education Minister.
I have studied at Loyola from the 1st to 10th and know how good they are, we at
Loyola in the 60’s had Konkani  medium in the primary 1st to 4th and the
transition to English was very smooth because of the excellent Staff.
Yes, we were forced to speak English most of the time, and that was only to
improve on our English, we were also asked to speak in Hindi during our Hindi
lectures, and I do feel very happy and proud when I am told that my Hindi for a
Goan is excellent and that’s because of Loyola, and in this Hindi, English
business Loyola did not forget to teach us Konkani our Mother Tounge.

I post this article as I  am hurt with your statement and I am sure a lot
of other Loyolites must be feeling the same. I am, what I am today, is because
of Loyola and I am proud of being a Loyolite, so once again I request you,
Selma, please don’t go around ridiculing our Educational Institutions and let
them do what they do best and respect them even if you have not been a part of
these institutions and please note that you have no right to ridicule an
Institution as good as Loyola and you have also insulted all of us who have
been a part of Loyola one time or the other.
