Whenever the Establishment authorities ask public for feedback, it appears to
be just eyewash/ to satisfy the procedures/rules.Generally there is no
acknowledgement leave alone reply and action taken Zilch, as it si too much
trouble,hampers their "business as usual". Thy latest is Police Beat System and
advertisements for public suggestions.I sent the following.Even Newspapers
failed to publish.(Addressed to NT,Herald,GT). SO MUCH FOR PUBLIC INTEREST
(Request publish in public interest as no acknowledgement from police)
Kindly note following facts
1)People do not trust Goa police.This TRUST is to be earned FIRST! How?
a) With help of NGO/Prominent citizen/Religious heads of
churches,Temples,mosques, arrange Meetings with local police heads/in charges.
b)Central hall/location where people can easily come.
c) Give your talk and LISTEN for suggestions which must be seriously taken AND
ACTED upon if feasible.Explain why not if you are not doing it!
d)Follow up REGULARLY.
2.TRAFFIC MANDOVI BRIDGE-
a) Home Minister has frankly stated in Assembly just concluded that he would
stop Traffic police issuing challans and instead see that they regulate
traffic.BREAK THIS PRESENT EASY MONEY GATHERING CHALLAN HABIT .Police are
seen by public as corrupt and this is one area to be firmly dealt with!
b)Have a Cop standing in the middle footpath of Mandovi Bridge with
mobile/walkie talkie. Pass info of the many traffic violations blatantly taking
place....crossing yellow line,overtaking,speeding, talking on mobiles whilst
driving,two wheelers zig zazzing , no helmet/seat belts use etc. CHALLAN AT
OTHER END OF BRIDGE WITHOUT FEAR OR FAVOUR!
You have asked for suggestions and here is feed back.Do what I have suggested
as a first step to get public to see police in better light and gain public
approval ,and RESPECT! Acknowledging receipt of messages/suggestions is also
confidence building measure.
