Hi Marshall, That indeed was a thought provoking and brain shaking article I still firmly believe that all this is not a religious agenda. I don't think any average Hindu gives a two hoot about conversions than any one of us does about catholic girls marrying guys from other religions. This is just a political game for the politicians, and the Hindu fundamentalist organizations, who have full support and backing of these slimy leaders, brain wash the lower class Hindus, who act as puppets in the hands of these politicians, who have no care nor reverence for human lives as long as they see power and position coming their way. Conversion is just an excuse to blind and bind the majority community for their own personal agendas "power and position at any cost", and unfortunately we have become the fall guys and have to pay the price for their acrimonious ambitions. As rightly stated in the article, we as a community have failed to unite and produce consensus leaders to take up our cause at the top. As it is also said that Rome burnt while Nero played his harp, we keep on fighting within our selves in trying to upstage each other while our brethren burn in Orissa and else where. Now every one is trying to assess the damage done and do damage control, What was done to avoid this carnage in the first place, as stated, these atrocities were going on since independence and now it seems to have exploded and looks like the worst is yet to come. As stated, no one can guarantee that this will not happen again. When and where will it all end ? Even in damage control what have the Authorities done to apprehend the culprits ? It's a proven fact that the RSS and the Bajrangdal were the Hitlers in act, why are the leaders of these terrorist organizations still not charge sheeted, are they any different from the other terrorists who are linked to SIMI and their likes ? Why is the centre so soft on this issue ? Is it because the Catholic community does retaliate or our religion is against violence ? Which religion supports violence, non for that matter so why Hindus against Muslims and Christians and Muslims against Hindus, for what purpose ? To me it's just one answer "POLITICS" nothing else. As of now it's high time our Christian leaders unite and work out ways to keep their respective flocks updated and ready for any eventuality with gathered info and intelligence and avail it to all the respective leaders so that we react before, to avoid a situation, rather than react later, to do damage control. As also stated in the article, we certainly are in need of good genuine and powerful Catholic leaders in politics to take up our causes, be it local or be it central the more the better. As further stated in the article, we are certainly paying a heavy price for our blind faith in the Congress Party. We have not lobbied other major Parties and we have openly declared our hostility to the BJP, as a result The Congress Party has taken us for a very long and rough ride. I hope I can make one thing clear to all goanetters, Congress Party is not the solution to our problems that we are looking for, but infact a much bigger, complex problem in it's self. Let me be specific. The Babri Masjid issue, wasn't the Congress in power at that time ? Couldn't the Congress stop the demolition if they wanted to ? Why did they not ? These are the obvious questions with obvious answers. If Congress "did not do any thing" to safe guard the interests of Muslims, whose population is much much larger than Christians and who react much more aggressively than the Christians, why will they go out of their way to protect the interest of miniscule Christians ? "Kabissh" !!!! (Get it) So please take away the nictitating membrane from your eyes (if still there is one) of thinking that the Congress is wholly and truly secular. Bull Shit !!!!! All is not lost yet, so let us all unite and restore parity by putting up and supporting genuine candidates who will safe guard our interest along with the interests of the State and Nation and in the meanwhile pray for a truly united, peaceful and secular India.
