Tell me one thing, do you know how to use a wheel chair, the safety mechanism or the emergency features ? We might think we know every thing, first and foremost a wheel chair is the property of the hospital and no one should be allowed to handle it other than the trained staff or the helpers, why are they there for, if not for the safety and protection of patients and the hospital property ? It is the solemn duty of the hospital staff to use the wheel chair, during admission into the hospital, during their stay in hospital as well as at their discharge from hospital, if they do their duty the way they should be doing, why should the relatives and friends of patients be handling the wheel chairs any way ? It a risk to the patient. The patient is the responsibility of the hospital till such time that he is placed securely and safely into an ambulance or a car. Like most things, it happens only in our India !
