Loyola High School Margao Presented Live Gospel Music.

By Francisca Fatima Da Costa

St. Ignatius always wanted to do more and more. So is Fr. Cedric Fernandes the
V. Principal of Loyola High School who leads the school Choir along with Mr.
Rene Mesquita enjoys bringing out the hidden talents of the boys to sing.
This time both of them presented the live Gospel Music show which was held on
18th Sept at Gomantak Vidya Niketan Hall Margao. It was their dream come true
with a caste of 45 boys on stage displaying their musical talent to the people
in and around Margao. It is said practice makes a man perfect and also one
cannot work wonders overnight, Fr. Cedric and Mr. Rene worked very hard to
make the show a grand success.

Around 700 people attended the show that began at sharp 5:30 pm by Mr. Rene
Mesquita who spoke on God’s creation. In his introduction he explained when God
created the universe the earth was formless and desolated. The ocean was in
total darkness. The power of God was moving over the water and later God
commanded light, and the light appeared. Then he commanded let there be dome to
divide the water and to keep it in two separate places. So God made a dome and
it separated the water under it from the water above it. He named the dome sky.
Later the water was brought together and was named sea. Next few days God
added beautiful things one by one to the world. Thus showing his love for us. A
Powerpoint presentation was put up on the gaint screen based on God’s creation.
Each slide demonstrating Gods creation from the darkness to the water, the
land, the trees and the birds.

The show consists of 15 hymns. Loyola is a boys high School but the audience
were surprised to see pretty little girls on the stage. They were none other
than our own boys dressed as girls. Thus doing justice to their role.

The first hymn was on Gods creation. It emphasized how God created everything
for our good. Simultaneously slides were shown for the first hymn on different
things like the sky, stars, rain, moon, birds, bees, hills, streams, musical
instruments, little children, men, women and the natural beauty around us.

Each hymn had a special message. Introduction was given before every hymn. The
boys also enacted some of the scenes thus bringing out the true meaning of the
hymns. God has created us in his own image and likeness. But what did man do?
Man embraced and enjoyed sin, injustice and hatred. But God did not forsake us.
He sent his only son Jesus to free us, Jesus went to the cross, bled and
died for us and saved all mankind. We are often carrying heavy loads of
sorrows, and all trials come our way but one hymn made us realize how to trust
the Lord who has promised to come again to take away all our tears and
sorrows. All we have to do is trust the Lord and be born again which means
repent and wait patiently to receive the Lords blessings.
Some hymns were really touching where the boys enacted the scenes how to share
with the poor and the needy. The message was the more we give to others the
more we shall receive. A smile also is a precious gift from God. A smile can
make someone happy. So chase away your frown. Help some one with your smile. It
doesn’t cost to smile so keep smiling. God has made us so wonderfully and so
beautifully each one a unique piece of his art. Do not judge and condemn others
and you will not be judged. Let not your anger block Gods love. So open up
your hearts to receive his love.

Jesus said come to me all who are weary and tired. So cast your burden unto
him and he will give you rest. You can ease the pain of your brother by showing
him a little kindness by helping him. Jesus is the Rock and nothing should
keep you away from him. Even if you have nothing in your pocket do not be
afraid. Silver and gold is not required to get eternal peace, all we need is
to be pure in heart. All we need is only to trust him and he will take you to
heaven. A place which will take away your pains, sorrows and troubles. So you
need to always give glory and praise to him because he loves you. These were
the powerful and interesting messages from all the 15 hymns. Speaking on the
occasion Principal of the school Fr. William Rodrigues said God can touch us
anywhere it need not be at Pilgrim places only.

Throughout the show Fr. Cedric and Mr. Rene kept the show lively by singing
with the boys on the stage and among the audience. The audience too were very
enthusiastic. They joined the singing along with the students on the stage as
the lyrics were displayed on the screen. This made the show “a very lively
one”. The audience applauded at every hymn. The Powerpoint presentation was
prepared by Ms Francisca Da Costa. She along with Mr. Wilson Fernandes
displayed the lyrics of the hymns on the screen. The success also is
attributed to parents, staff and students that worked infront and behind the
stage to see that everything went on as a well-oiled machine.
It was a very enjoyable evening and was well appreciated by the people that
remained till the end. Thanks to the budding singers of Loyola High school
Margao.

Due to the overwhelming response, the school has planned another show at
Ravindra Bhavan Margao, on 9th Dec at 6:30p.m. For all those who can make it,
make it a point to attend and see the 45 young students presenting the Gospel
music that throws in a lot of messages for parents, children and youth.
Donation passes will be available when the school re-opens after the diwali
holidays.
