Nothing very much quaint about it, dear Ponti.

The then prospective children's section of the Margao gardens was named
after Aga Khan was because it was erected by his Ismaili/Khoja community,
in Goa, predominantly Margao, as a tribute to HSH Prince Karim Aga Khan's,
cousin
od the incumbent to the title, Fakrudin, visit to Goa, 1960.

Prince Fakrudin told me, in Stockholm, a few years ago: "I was to have visited
Goa
then. But pragmatic political circumstances prevented me. He meant his
involvement
with the UNO). I have yet to visit the fabulous place I have so much heard
about".

Legend has it that the 'fiercely' rich community desired to weigh the young slim
prince, weighing but a fraction of his volumnuous grandfather, in a precious
metal
that equalled his pounds but for the, momentary, paucity of the desired metal
in the
Portuguese province, that used to expedioutiously hold in ready stock the more
needful proveniants...whisky..wine...cheese...

The original gardens were mamed after Benaulim civic leader George Barreto,
whose
helenly grandaughters, Gracinha & Matildinha, among beevy others, we dreamily
folowed
after, albeit without the loathesome hadean grills whose mere sights would have
rendered
even the ever-awake Cereberus droop asleep.

Alfred, the ever nostalgic for slips shown...
