First of all let me assure you that I have no aspirations of becoming a
journalist. When I write something it is entirely my own point of view, whether
one agrees with it or disagrees. I don't have the bent of mind, that even aims
to be neutral or objective.

Secondly, provocation is sometimes good. It makes us question the status-quo in
life. There is not wrong is asking about the racial prejudice that would have
existed in Africa at the time. I grew up in a country that derisively called
me, Hindi. Indians in American are derisively called, dot-heads, and the same
in the UK are sometimes derisively called, pakis. We can't tackle prejudice by
denying its existence. We can hope to counter it by writing our own
perspectives.

Lastly, before you so glibly dismiss Robert Gregory, do take the time to read
something from this very note-worthy historian and credited scholar. He,
alongwith you I'm sure, has written several papers on the role Asians,
particularly Indians played in African politics. He writes with great
sensitivity, insight, sympathy and for my money, accuracy.

Goodluck on your project with writing about Africa. There is a great story to
be told there. One that we all must acquaint ourselves with, for it is an
important part of our history. We can all tell it from different perspectives
though.
