It has been brought to our notice that the phones of Environmental and Anti-Mining Activists have been tapped by the Government of Goa apparently at the behest of the Mine owners/operators, thus confirming the long-since existing nexus between the two.

The phones of Rama Velip, the well known activist of Colamb in Sanguem and that of Seby Rodrigues of Siolim, the well known Naxalite of the Mining Industry in Goa and the member of the Goa Su-Raj Party have been tapped. This has come to be known after these two activists tried to ring each other today, a short while ago. It has been noted that a Hindi speaking voice comes on the residential phone line and when questioned, the phone goes dead. On ringing the phone again, the recorded voice informs that the phone has been temporarily out of service.

The same thing has happened when Rama Velip tried to ring Seby.

Agitated Seby has informed us about this new strategy the mine owners have adopted in connivance with the government of Goa.

It must be noted that BSNL will only agree to tap the phone lines on the explicit instructions of the Government.

This is for your kind information.
