Upto the year2007 end, the total jobless in Goa were 1,03,092 (registered unemployed with Goa Employment Exchange). Of which. 265 were doctors (Panjim 174, Margao 91) 2,753 Engineers (1,646 Panjim, Margao 1107) 101 ITcians JoeAdds: If the above is the situation, what could be the real picture in the lower categories like these ones? Lawyers ? Graduate? Undergraduate? Matriculates? Under-matriculates? Skilled? Unskilled? OK, What was the situation in the year 1987 like? Total Jobless on the live register of Employment Exchange as on March 1987 were 68,000 Also, check this stats (self) Population of Goa is about 13.5 lacs (2001) of which Goans were 9 lacs Of which 3 lacs children (0-18) Again 75K senior citizens (60+) Total is now would be 5.25 lacs Goans (19-59) of which 2.6 lacs would be male Goans again, about 2.6 lacs would be females of which 1.6 lacs would be house wives Total now would be 3.5 lacs (working age) that could mean about 33% Goans are uneployed Note: Not all unemployed force register with EE.
