>From John Fernandes, Quepem The Salaulim Pipe line which is the main source of water supply to most part of south has busted on Sunday early morning at Bomdamol Quepem near Kushawati river thereby causing water problem in most part of south Goa. . Executive Engineer of water resource department Salaulim Paranjape who supervising the repair work informed herald that the pipe line busted at around 4.00AM in the morning. When questioned for the reason of busting the pipeline Parajape informed herald the concrete pipes which were laid in the 1990 has become very weak to handle the load of the water as a result they are busting. Once the new iron pipeline which is on the way of completion once installed will be solved the problem. When this correspondent visited the site the repair work of the pipeline was going on on a war footing as heavy machinery were seen at the site. That by 6.00PM after removing the old concrete pipe by putting a new iron pipe work was completed and wielding work was in progress . E.E. Paranjape informed Herald that the entire repair work of the pipeline will be completed by 2.00 PM and by morning the water will be released. That salcete will get water by 12 noon. If one day the pipe line busted the salcete people face such hardship if the salaulim dam is silted due to the way the mining activities are going on in the catchments areas of Salaulim irrigation project. @@@@@@@@@@ Those 8 persons arrested by the Quepem police on Saturday in connection with forming unlawful assembly at Cavrem pirla were on Sunday released by the JMFC Quepem on a person bond Rs.5000/- and a like amount of Rs.5000/-.
