As the original statue (1648 ) was taken to Rachol Seminary in 1836, the said ring has slipped off from the original statue and the same was mounted on the new one. The original statue was located by a part of shipwrecked sailors led by Rev. Fr. Bento Ferreira, aJesuit missionary off the coast of Mozambique in the 17th century. He brought it to Colva Church when he was posted there in1648.
