The entry of mining trucks will be restricted during school hours. This was decided at a meeting called by the Quepem MLA and GIDC Chairperson Shri Chandrakant Kavlekar in his office on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Dy-Collector of Quepem DShri Venancio Furtado, Dy-S.P. of Quepem Shri Rohidas Patre, P. I. Santosh Dessai and officials of RTO Department and prominent citizens of Quepem That taking into consideration the number of schools which are there on the rout from Ambaulim to Quepem it was decided not to allow any mining truck through Quepem town from 7.30 AM to 8.30 am and from 1.00PM to 2.00PM. The officials present were directed by the MLA to complete to notification formalities by 1st of November. The citizens present at the meeting complaint that as the mining truck are being over loaded which is the main cause for dust pollution and for endangering the life of the people. The citizens present stated that if the notification dated 15/12/2007 issued by the Directorate of Transport which came into force on 1/1/2008 than most of the dust problem caused by the mining truck can be overcome. That Sandeep Dessai and Remedio Rebello complained that the officials are only conducting meeting and does nothing to find solution to the problems faced by the common man. They further stated the officials awakes only when any serious incident takes place. MLA Kavlekar requested the officials to take immediate steps to solve the problem faced by the villagers and he further warned the officials that if any incident took place due to their negligence then the citizen of Quepem will close the road for mining truck once for all and he has to join them. Photo annexed : Seen in the photo Quepem MLA addressing the officials of different department. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@ The Quepem police on Monday arrested Z.P. member Shri Subhash Fal Dessai in respect of the incident that occurred on 11/10/2008 at Cavrem Quepem on the Charged him of rioting and voluntarily causing hurt. It may be recalled that in respect of the incident that took place at Cavrem in which 8 persons including environmentalist Seby Rodrigues who were arrested by the Quepem police had charge Z.P. member Subhash Fal Dessai and other and complaints were filed to that effect at the police station. The Quepem Police yesterday registered the complaint under section 143, 147 , 323 r/w 149 of IPC against ZP member Subhash Fal Dessai and others. That on Monday morning Z.P. member Subhash Fal Dessai was arrested by the Quepem police and was released on a surety of Rs.10,000/-. Speaking to reporters environmentalist Seby Rodrigues has stated that while registering the offence against Z.P. member Subhash fal Dessai and other the Quepem police has not taken into consideration the supplementary complaint filed by him on 12/10/2008 at 1.30 PM. He further stated that the Quepem police has cunning done it in order the make the offence bailable.
