http://newstodaynet.com/newsindex.php?id=11416%20&%20section=5 News Today, Oct 15 Goa's beleaguered Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte, who has been booked for allegedly aiding his son to sexually harass a German teenaged girl, on Wedneasday accused the police of framing him and demanded an impartial inquiry into the allegation levelled by the girl's mother.. 'I have met the Chief Minister Digamber Kamat and sought impartial inquiry into the entire allegations. I have no faith in the police as they are trying to frame me and my son,' Monserratte told media persons outside the chief minister's official residence at Goa, on Wedneasday night. Almost entire state cabinet except Tourism Minister Fransisco Pacheco, had gathered at chief minister's residence and was in closette for almost three hours before Monserratte emerged from the meeting along with public works department minister Churchill Alemao. Monserratte said that the police are taking revenge as he had demanded CBI inquiry into the assault on his family in February, this year. He said that the entire incident should be probed by impartial agency. 'I can't say which agency but I don't trust police,' he said replying to a question. Monserratte's 21-year-old son, Rohit, has been charged for raping a 14-year-old German girl. Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat said that he is yet to ascertain all the facts in the case. I met Home Minister Ravi Naik and Monserratte, who have briefed me about the case. I will be meeting Director General of Police B S Brar on Thursday,' Kamat told reporters. Hinting that he may concede for non-police inquiry, Kamat said that there is a feeling within the cabinet that it is better that someone else investigate the case. He, however, remained non-committal on whether he will shift the case from police. 'Let me study the case properly before commenting anything,' Kamat said. Police who began investigating the case almost 12 days after the mother complained has also booked the minister for abetment of crime as the mobile phone connection used by Rohit to send obscene messages is registered in his name.
------------------------ Comment: Does not look like justice will be served. NGO's should organize indefinite Goa bandh until the criminals are jailed or until the Govt collapses, whichever comes first. CM will not act or will try to delay, or else he looses his chair. Regards, jp
