------------------------------------------------------------------ Do GOACAN a favour, circulate this email to your family members, relatives, neighbours and friends.Help others be better informed -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- Seraulim Civic and Consumer Forum (SCCF) launched ------------------------------------------------------- 5th October saw the launch of the Seraulim Civic and Consumer Forum by concerned citizens of the village of Seraulim in Salcete Taluka who have resolved to build a movement for the protection of the Civic and Consumer Rights of the villagers and to ensure the preservation of the village ecology.
The meeting held on Sunday also resolved to ensure the democratic participation of the villagers in the affairs of the Village Panchayat of Seraulim by ensuring regular attendance to the Gram Sabhas and formation of all the mandated committees in the Panchayat. The villagers at the meeting deliberated on the ongoing problems faced by them due to the non-availability of a full-time Secretary in the Village Panchayat, the increase in the number of Mega Housing Projects, the lack of adequate drainage, filling up of water bodies, inadequate medical facilities and the functioning of the beat system of the Goa Police. The meeting also resolved to undertake an awareness campaign to educate the consumers of Seraulim about their Rights and Responsibilities with regards to the services such as Home delivery of LPG Cylinders, terms and conditions of electricity supply, functioning of BSNL telephones, condition of Fair price shops and supply of kerosene and the irregular PWD water supply.
