ED. -------- Bandh hits normal life in State Buses stoned l Lathi-charge in Mapusa l Margao deserted HERALD REPORTER PANJIM, OCT 20 Life in Goa came to a grinding halt with the bandh called for by the Akhil Goa Mandir Samiti receiving an overwhelming response on Monday. Stoning of buses and commercial establishments, a lathi-charge on demonstrators at Mapusa and Bicholim, arrests of protestors and road-blockades were reported in different parts of the State. While the bandh was a success for the organisers, the common man’s life was severely affected due to short supply of milk and bread. Even office goers were left stranded without adequate transportation facilities as private bus operators went off the roads and petrol pumps remained closed.
