The BJP recruited policemen in 2002, the Congress recruited the IRB in 2005. In
the last six years, Goa has added about 2000 police men and women.
On 18 February, 2008, Police women[aged 21 to 30 years] were brought from the
"parking lot" duties and used as human shields by the so-called Police MEN. The
IRB men than raided the house of an MLA and allegedly beat up his teenaged son
and his teenaged friend. Later they beat up the MLA and his wife. Then the
policemen ... SP, Dy SP and PI/SHO ...got transferred to GRP barracks to rot.
The MLA became a Minister and is now being targeted by former "Student Leaders"
who bask in the glory of 50% student concession agitation of the early 1980s as
if they had won the American War of Independence!
Current Ministers reportedly organise "Dhirio" and former Industrious Minsiter
allegedly ran the Matka operations in Goa. So what exactly are the policemen
expected to do except to roam behind the politicians like a pack of pariah
dogs? It is unreasonable to expect anything contrary. Afterall, many of them
are yet to recover all the money they paid to get their appointment orders
AFTER passing the written, oral and physical tests ...and suffering the
tribulations of rookie life that drove one rookie policewoman to attempt
suicide. Even there, she was unsuccessful. The dozen tablets she swallowed
might have been spurious. Corruption has permeated everywhere.

A lot of additional police were recruited in Goa around 2001-02. Obviously, the
police force is not immune from itself getting
