Dear all aka Dears (courtesy Miguelbab) I suppose that there is a viewpoint that Goa is really benefiting from these "Rape" headlines. They surely "go well" with the "Murder" and :Suicide" headlines and with "Princess" "Corruption" and "a new Casino" nooj about our little, once serene and beautiful Goa which has literally been handed over to the goons by you know who!
My comments about the news-item (excerpted below) are as follows: 1: Dear Editor/Publisher of the Herald, please understand that YOU have the responsibility to ensure that NO person is slandered in your paper. First of all, it is NOT a rape case. It is an alleged rape case. If you and Aires do not know the difference between rape and alleged rape, please start a new business selling Gol Gappas. 2: If this advertisement has NOT been signed by bona fide (verified and verifiable) individuals, the Herald is a registered partner in Sniping from under the Shadows of anonymity. Shame on you Herald. For a few pieces of silver? 3: Does Aires have any proof that this advert is the "is a handiwork of Churchill Alemao" or that any "of the signatories in the advertisement are bogus". 4: Has the Herald done its reasonable diligence that the signatories in the advertisement are not bogus? 5: The "blackmailing" charge against Aires, while plausible, needs to be proved. 6: Did the Herald make reasonable attempts to verify the "bigamy" charge before it allowed it in the advert? Don't tell me we have another Telo Mascarenhas situation here. On the other hand, the Herald could well have assisted in the slandering of Aires and his family. Why is Aires' family being punished for his perceived sins? 7: Both Aires and the Herald are disgusting entities for allowing others to identify the victim's name by way of their words. In summary: All individuals and entities who engage in violating others (be they young ladies or men), and ALL those who use the sad plight of others for personal (financial, ideological and political) gain are disgusting par excellence. just my view jc ps: I have intentionally changed the subject line. I do not wish to continue the nonsense of calling something by a definitive term while it is still alleged and not proven in court. == D'Souza, Avelino <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> fwd 1: Goa rape case: Anti-Rodrigues ad published in local daily 2: an anti-Aires Rodrigues advertisement being published in the local daily signed by 390 people. 3: Rodrigues has said that the advertisement is a handiwork of Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Churchill Alemao. 4: "Many of the signatories in the advertisement are bogus. 5: The advertisement accuses Rodrigues of blackmailing people in the guise of activism. 6: It has also commented on the personal life of Rodrigues accusing him of bigamy. 7: Despite Court directives not to disclose the name of victim or her parents, the advertisement also mentions the name of the German lady. 8: The ad incidentally is in violation of the Children's Court directive which asked the media and the police to refrain from using the names of victim and her mother or any other information which could lead to identifying the victim.
