This is to inform you of the sad passing away of Oslinda Mascarenhas wife of
Roland Tellis of Santa Monica, California on Thursday, November 6, 2008
after a long illness. She was the sister of Omega De Mello Mascarenhas of
Toronto.

Oslinda was a very dear friend who grew up in Pune where I once lived. She was
also the younger sister of Arjuna Award winner, Otilia Mascarenhas, former
Captain of India's women's hockey team, Oscar Mascarehnas who lives in Abu
Dhabi and Odette Viegas of Pune.

Physically and mentally, Osie, as she was known, battled her illness in heroic
fashion for many years, and became an activist and spokesperson for cancer
patients and for those seeking cures for cancer. She was very positive
throughout and bravely fought until the end even though she accepted the fact
that the odds were long.
>
This was a sad case of lightning striking twice in the same family, as her
younger brother, Orlando, also succumbed to cancer at a young age while a Major
in the Indian Army.

My heartfelt condolences to the family.
