SGF Party ka do Baap? It may be reminded that SGF (Save Goa Front) Party was formed just before the last general election (June 2007), core members like Chruchill Alemao, Anotnio Gaounkar, Raul etc etc.
Most People (particularly from the South Goa) believed in SGF as the only savior of Goa. But only two got elected (out of 18) viz Churchill Alemao and Reginaldo Lourenco from Navelim and Curtorim constituency. Being MLA and can’t do much (in money making etc) the two decided to merged with Congress with assured top post of PWD ministry and without taking the electors into confidence. President Mr. Gaunkar resigned in May 2007 but his resignation was rejected and it was rejected in writing. Accordingly. Mr. Gaunkar claims he continues to be the President of SGF. However, with the merger of SGF with Congress (23 January 2008), Churchill claims the SGF does not exist. Mr. Gauncar as president of surviving SGF convenes GBM on 6th February 2008 after the (illegal) merger. EC announced by poll at Pale Constituency on 1st Nov 2008. SGF filled it candidate On 11th Nov, EC also approved candidature of SGF (the same was delayed for a day for want of proper scrutiny). It was at this time, problem started emerging from the surviving SGF Why? Minister Mikky Pacheco earlier (Early Oct) filled disqualification petition with Speaker Rane against Chruchill Alemao and Reginaldo Lourence saying their merger with Congress is illegal and that SGF continues to exist. Now that EC accepted SGF nomination as valid for by-poll which in other words clearly indicates the existence of SGF. Primary Members Raul Pereira, Suresh Pilarnekar and Lodovico Goviea of SGF (a rival faction) called GBM on 4th November 2008 without the knowledge of Mr. Gauncar. In this meeting Raul appointed as Predident, Ludovico as Vice-President & Suresh as GS) and accordingly, Mr. Gauncar was expelled from the Party. The SGF president Mr. Gaunkar on 20th Nov.2008 expels all the above three for their anti-party activities after serving on them show-cause notices including Press ads. All the above expelled three had earlier called for a Extra-Ordinary GBM (General Body Meeting) on 22nd Nov. 2008 at Manutel Margao-Goa. An appeal in this respect is also appeared in press ad to say that the party will go ahead with the 22nd EO-GBM signed by the three including Raul as President. Mr. Raul group says Mr. Gaumcar ceased to be the President of SGF as he resigned from the post. He also says as per the Party rules Resignation once tendered is deemed to be accepted unless withdrawn within 7 days and that there is no provision for rejection It was also reported that Mr. Raul is a close friend of PWD Minister Churchill Alemao. So, we know now that whole thing is to save Churchill Alemao from the disqualification trap hanging on him. I have never seen so dirty politics as this. SGF ka kitna Baap hai? Ek ya do? Nearly two months now since the disqualification petition filed against Chruchill, has the Speaker Rane done anything? I don’t think so. He can take years for his decision in this matter. After all he too is a congress man and if the two are disqualified it will affect the ruling coalition Congress Govt too.
