Dear Rishi It is unfortunate that you choose to look at the tribute in a partisan manner. It is indeed sad, that even in death, some persons like you, detect some bias just because there is a reference to Malegaon. In fact I have read several articles on Hemant Karkare and nearly all of them refer to the Malegaon case as that was the last assignment handled by him.
It has not been denied that he was honest, fair and even handed and arrested several muslims and naxalites too for their role in the various terror acts. Can we not rise above biased and partisan way at looking at events and incidents? Do we have to live in constant denial of certain events just because they are unpalatable to digest? Incidentally, the author of one of the articles posted by me is Kumar Ketkar, the editor of Loksatta and a highly respected person in journalistic circles. There is another article written by Julio Ribeiro which appeared in the Times of India of 28th Nov 2008, but which link I am at present unable to find on the net. I shall copy and post it to you. In this article too there is a reference made to Malegaon. I too think that our commandos and police did a great job at personal sacrifice of their lives and I have made special mention of this in a separate post. I trust I have clarified the matter. Regards, Marshall
