But what is more frightening are the geo-political implications. Last time
such attack took place on our Parliament buildings, the Indian army was
almost at the Pakistani borders. Suppose similar situation arises and this
time Indian army marches into Pakistan and somehow succeeds in pacifying the
bandit areas of Pushtoon speaking tribes, will the Indian nation benefit from
such an adventure ?

Mario observes:

Threats by India against are empty and designed for political consumption.
Because they are both nuclear powers there is unlikely to be any all out war
between them.

The situation in Pakistan is very complex and dangerous because the Pakistani
government and Pakistan are also under attack by Islamic terrorists. In
addition, Pakistan is also subject to deadly attacks by Shia and Sunni
extremists against each other.

For example, the numerous attempts to assassinate President Musharraf and the
assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Pakistani security forces are under constant
alert against attacks against them by Islamic militants that take place far
more frequently than in India.

On the other hand the Pakistani government clearly hasn't done enough to curb
terrorist activity and training camps within their country. Their ISI has been
suspected of having rogue elements with jihadi sympathies, which is a problem
that no Pakistani government has been able to solve.

The Indian and Pakistani security forces need to join together if they are to
be successful in cleansing the sub-continent of Islamic terrorism.
