*Trek to Savare Waterfalls <http://www.reviewgoa.com/?p=419>*
The Goa Hiking Association organized a trek to Savare Waterfalls on 9thNovember 2008. There were buses booked to take us to Sanguem taluka from Panjim, Vasco and Margao at 8 am, 8:15 am and 9 am respectively. The Margao group had to assemble below Mabai Hotel. After a very fast ride on my bike from home I reached at sharp 9am below the hotel only to find that the bus had not yet arrived. I made a quick call to my friend in Vasco and she told me the bus had just left Vasco and would reach Margao only by 9:45 am. Talk about India and IST, it literally translates into Indian Stretchable Time. The distance from Margao to Netravali is roughly 50 kms. We reached Sanguem and after quick instructions from the Goa Hiking Association members we were all set to go trekking towards the Savare waterfalls. There is a small village out there and we were informed that it is self sufficient and the villagers grow their own food. This was confirmed as we saw vegetables like lady finger, tomatoes, etc growing in their backyards and pumpkins growing on the roof.
