Ban on vehicles at Dabolim airport arrival terminals

VASCO, DEC 5
The threat perception to airports in country on December 6, the 16th
anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, has forced authorities at Dabolim
airport to ban the entry of vehicles to pick up passengers at the domestic and
international arrival terminals.
“Entry of vehicles to pick up passengers at both arrival points have been
banned with immediate effect,” Airport Director D Paul Manickam told Herald.
As a result, passengers arriving from either of the two arrival points will
have to walk along with their luggage outside the airport, where they will be
picked up by their respective vehicles.
The rules, however, do not apply to passengers at the departure terminals and
vehicles will be allowed entry into the airport. These vehicles will have to
immediately clear from the area, after dropping passengers at departure points.
Manickam has requested passengers and visitors to co-operate with the security
arrangements to avoid any untoward incidents in the airport premises.
