KIFF FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2008-09
As the mercury dipped low in Kuwait three matches of the ongoing KIFF League
for the J.P. D'Mello Memorial Rolling Trophy were played at the Salmiya
Baladiya Football stadium in Salmiya - Kuwait.
The first match of the day was played between Santos Football Club and the
new look CRC Chinchinim. CRC Chinchinim led by ace medio Agnelo Miranda put
up an impressive performance and went on the rampage from the start and came
out victorious by a whooping margin of 5 goals to nil.
The second match saw defending champions Navelim Youth Center taking on
Kerala Challengers. Kerala Challengers were expected to put in a decent
performance after their last encounter but faded under the experience and
agility of NYC strikers. Though the first half ended goalless, NYC opened
their account soon after the break and added the second to leave Kerala
Challengers flat footed who at times were looking pale shadows of their
past. The match ended with the final score 2-0 in NYC's favor.
The final match of the day was between Don Bosco Oratory and Bombay Boys
Sports Club. Don Bosco started the match with a positive intent, but failed
at crucial stages to take the lead. Bombay Boys gave a good account of
themselves compared to their first encounter, but trailed by a goal in the
first half due to a goalkeeping error. The second half saw Don Bosco on the
attack and Bombay Boys on the defence which they did admirably with help
from the erratic Don Bosco Strikers. Towards the end of the match Bombay
Boys defence crumbled to the onslaught of Don Bosco strikers and went down
fighting 3-0.
The matches were officiated by IFRA and catered by Goa Caterers.

At 7:00am Kuwait Goan Association (KGA) v/s Fahaheel Bros.
At 8.30am United Goan Center (UG) v/s United Friends Club (UFC)
At 10:00am GOA Maroons v/s Goa De Porto Club (GDPC)
