Hi Santosh:
Check out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navya_Shastra
Navya Shastra is a progressive Hindu organization which fights for Dalits
and reforms within the Hindu society. I am sure there are many
Hindu organizations which are tolerant ones unlike the VHP.
May be Jayashree could give more pointers. In fact, Jayashree is based
in California, and constantly receives abuse from the VHP-types for
her bold and truthful statements about the intolerance of the VHP types.

Samir

In response to Santosh:
Samir's confusing assertions about some RSS members not being criminals, but
VHP being like KKK, and the U. S. government approved VHP America charity being
the same as VHP, has raised very serious questions in my mind. There are
perhaps thousands of Indians in America who are members or donors of VHP
America. All of them would now be regarded as being equivalent to the
intolerant members of KKK. All of the temple charities, and other Hindu and
secular charities that have coordinated their fund raising efforts for various
humanitarian causes with VHP America would also be guilty of intolerance. Given
this type of a dicey situation, I would like to humbly ask Samir or anybody
else the following questions:
1) If a devout Hindu American wants to donate money to a religious cause
locally or in India, which Hindu charity should he/she choose?
2) If a devout Hindu has been visiting and performing religious ceremonies at a
Hindu temple that has fund-raising or cultural ties with VHP America, what
should he/she do?
3) If a devout Hindu professional such as a physician is invited to donate
his/her services to the needy by a temple or an organization affiliated with
VHP America what should he/she do?
I would appreciate it very much if you would answer these questions.
Cheers,
