While googling the web, I came across this article published in Tehelka issue of Jan 19, 2008. The author appears to have forseen the events of August 2008.Here is what he says.

Incidentally, the VHP has proposed a bandh on 25th Dec. to coincide with Christmas day. This is very tactical to intimidate the christians and also to incite some hotheads from the minority community to retaliate in case of provocation so that they can then unleash fresh violence.
