Citizens' Initiatives for Communal Harmony (CICH) expressed shock at the police
excesses perpetrated against mostly minor Mulism girls in the city of Vasco on
Monday, and condemned the same.
In charge of the Vasco-based institution Tahir Carol, Admitting the
institution's mistake' in not submitting the forms regarding the students
antecedents in time, he said that the delay was caused by the lack of
photographs.
"They have been co-operative in the past, but had delayed this time in filling
the forms and were reluctant in providing their photographs," Banavlikar said.
Regarding the allegations of the police's high-handed action, he explained
their suspicions were aroused by circumstances. "We could not make out the age
of girls as they were wearing burqas," he stated.
