Dears, On the 22nd death anniversary of Florian Vaz, who was shot dead by the police in cold blood during the Konkani agitation, comes the good news of the release of yet another special issue of the annual GOENCHO AVAZ [begun and originally published as a daily newspaper by Fr. Freddy da Costa, founder President of the Dalgado Konkani Akademi] The Dalgado Konkani Akademi today remembered Floriano Vaz at the Pai Tiatirst Hall of the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, in the presence of Margao MLA and Goa CM, Digamber Kamat. The current DKA President, Mr. Premanand Lotlikar, IPP of DKA, Tomazinho Cardoz and a large number of Konkani lovers were present. Dr. Tanaji Halarnkar, VP of GKA, Dr. Francisco Colaco, Yusuf Shaikh, Ashok Chodankar, Pandarinath Lotlikar, Daniel D'Souza, Shridhar Kamat, Jose Salvador Fernandes, Michael Gracias and others could be spotted in the audience, while Wilmix & Sharon, Prince Jacob, Joe Rose and others performed on stage. Fr. Pratap Naik SJ delivered a keynote address that should open many doors ...and break down a few walls. He had a strong message against terrorism; language terrorism. Goencho Avaz also celebrates the vibrancy of Konkani written/printed in the Roman script.
