To Goanet - Announcing the launch of my new photography website. The URL is -
http://www.parrikar.com and the blog is at - http://www.parrikar.com/blog Best viewed in Firefox or Safari. I have not tested for Google Chrome since the Mac version is not yet available. IE, needless to add, is a pile of rubbish. At the broadband speeds available in Goa, the site may take a wee bit longer to load. But once you have the photos loaded into the cache, viewing should be a cinch. The "info" bar at the bottom toggles between ON and OFF and furnishes captions for each photograph. The "full" button affords full-screen viewing which you should take advantage of since the images have been optimized for larger sizes. Bookmark these links. In the coming weeks and months, I shall continue to post a great deal more on the blog about my extensive shoots in Goa, and discuss the historical/religious/cultural/archaelogical/ social/scientific - as the case may be - aspects germane to specific photographs. All peppered with my xapoter commentary. I expect to have at least one new entry up every 7-10 days. Forward the URL to as many Goans as you can. Every serious photographer aims to draw his viewer into his locale and recreate a sense of the place he has captured. But I did not shoot in Goa as a tourist or as a visiting photographer. To me, it was an intensely personal mission, in a place I identify with and understand like no other. I want every single Goan to look at these pictures of Goa and imagine what it would be like to lose it all. And then think of how to save Goa from our enemies from within and the enemies from the larger Indian swamp beyond its borders. Before I sign off - Feliz Natal ! Warm regards, r ps: I will be posting some remarks on the current morbid state of Goa sometime early next month. In particular, I want to talk about the rotten NGOs and 'activists' who are as much, if not more, complicit in Goa's destruction as our politicos. I may even name names to illustrate my point. Stay tuned.
