The conference is being organized by the All India Konkani Parishad where Karnataka chief minister Dr B S Yediyurappa is likely to be the chief guest. The conference follows close on the heels of Ravindra Kelekar bagging the prestigious Jnanpith Award. His copious writings include a novelette, the transcreation of Mahabharata in two volumes, travelogues, biographies and several collections of essays. The conference will be presided over by Ramesh Velluskar, a popular Konkani writer and poet. Velluskar has bagged several awards from Kala Academy and Konkani Bhasha Mandal. He was conferred the Sahitya Akademi Award for Savulgori, a collection of Konkani poems, in 1992. Union minister of state for labour Oscar Fernandes and home minister of Karnataka V S Acharya will be the guests of honour. Digamber Kamat, chief minister of Goa will be the chief guest at the valedictory function on February 8. R V Deshpande, former industries minister of Karnataka will be the guest of honour. President of All India Konkani Parishad and member of the Rajya Sabha, Shantaram Naik will also be present.
