He was speaking at the function organized by Hindu Hitarakshak Sangh at Shri Nilkanth Brahmeshwar Vandurga Devastan, Porvorim while releasing Marathi book 'Parvori Parisarantil Mandirem'. "Unlike other religions in the world, Hinduism does not claim any one Prophet, it does not worship any one God and it does not believe in one philosophic concept," said Velingker. He further said that the role of temples is that of nation building and character formation of the citizens. "They are 'Sanskar' kendras and the centres of 'Shakti Pith'. Hindus have become insensitive creatures due to which incidences of desecration of temples are on the rise in Goa," he added. "The time has now come for the people, who believe in 'Hindutva', to come together and try to manifest their strength and impel the government to take steps to protect the temples," said Velingker. He criticized the government for shunting out DySP Deu Banauliker and PI Harish Madkaiker from Vasco police station in connection with the recent detention of schoolgirls of Madrassa. "Police officials had performed their duties to safeguard the interest of the State and this transfer will demoralize the morale of the entire police force," said Velingker. Hindu Hitarakshak Sangh President Rajkumar Dessai said that temples are the social centres where sections of society gather not only to offer prayers to the deity but also to discuss social issues. "Temples are not only the centres of rituals and congregation, but also the lighthouses of knowledge and philosophy. There are about 37 temples in and around Porvorim and the main aim to organize this programme was to disseminate information about these temples to the general public," said Dessai. Earlier, Swami of Siddharuth Mutt Shri Shankeranandji inaugurated the programme. Sangh Secretary Srihari Athalye made a video presentation of the temples. Later, Marathi book 'Parvori Parisarantil Mandirem' was released by Subhash Velingker. The editor of the book Laxmi Kamat spoke about the book. Akhila Dessai compered. http://oheraldo.in/pagedetails.asp?nid=15024&cid=26
