New Indian School Alumni Assn Launched

Kuwait: The New Indian School Alumni Association (NISAA) was formally launched
at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Thursday, 8th January 2009. The event started with
the welcome dance by six young girls followed by the welcome speech by the
President Mario Fernandes. The NISAA’s official flag was unveiled and the
committee members were introduced. The Chief Guests for the evening were none
other than the Teachers.
The former teachers of the New Indian School who are still teaching in Kuwait
in other schools were also introduced and the inauguration of the souvenir was
done by all the teachers. This was followed by the Felicitation of the teachers
through the hands of the president, where each teacher was presented with a
beautiful Memento in appreciation of their hard work and patience during their
tenure in NIS. This was a great surprise to all the teachers as they had never
expected to witness such a grand reception.
After all the formal sessions it was ‘party time’ for the NISAA members,
teachers and all those who attended the grand function. Mr. Remmy and Ms. Nita,
both ex-students of NIS were the two comperes of the evening and without a
doubt they did a wonderful job of keeping the crowd on their feet. Group
pictures were taken of all the batches right from 1982 batch onwards.
Its worth to mention that a few guests had specially come to Kuwait from other
gulf countries mainly to be part of this grand reunion. "We also had our
ex-teacher Mrs. Elsa Soares who flew in to Kuwait from Goa especially for the
reunion," said Mario Fernandes.

away for games, spot prizes, housie, and not forgetting the lucky dip on the
Entry Coupon which was conducted in four intervals with the grand prize being
the 5.1 home theatre system sponsored by Electrozan, thanks to Mr. Agnelo
Rodrigues.
Message from the President:
I am very proud to have achieved a great success with our very first NISAA
reunion and attribute the success to different individuals without whose help
and assistance this reunion would not have been possible. To begin with I am
grateful to Mr. Roland D’Sa for his constant updates and information right from
the time he joined the group so also Mr. David & Mrs. Fatima Colasso for their
constant support and help for the hall decoration. Mr. Agnelo and Mrs. Carmin
Rodrigues rendered their assistance in finalizing the art work of the souvenir,
tickets and all the printing material that was being used, Ms. Lekha
Ramachandran for her efforts in organizing the opening ceremony and to all my
fellow members Mr. Augusto Morais, Mr. Diem Dias, Mr. Rajesh Varkey not
forgetting my sub committee Ms. Janet Franco, Mr. Ronald Crasta, Mr. Vijay John
and Ms. Nita Bhatkar. We are very thankful to our sponsors Gulf Bank, Pizza
