The two social associations of Merces,Goykaranchi Konkani Bhas, Songit, Kala
ani Sonskrutai Kendr Merces and Merces Civic and Consumer Forum will be
jointly commemorating the 42nd anniversary of the Historic Opinion Poll Day of
1967 as the Osmitai Dis on 16-1-2009 at Merces.This is our eighth year in
succession.
We have been ceelebrating this day for the last eight years.We were very lucky
that late Dr.Jack de Sequeira took the lead and manage to mobilise Goans and
defeat the mergerist forces in Goa.Our Identity was safe guarded through the
Opinion Poll the first of its kind in free India. Alas,, but there are few
politicians in the ruling as well as in the opposition parties who wants to
hide the name of Father of the Opinion Poll late Dr.Jack de Sequeira,, hey
monkeys can U change the history ? For those people please read my Konkani poem
that was published during the installation function of the Statue of Dr.Jack.
