The facts about Hamas? Where has Finkelstein been all these years? I looked
in vain for any mention that Hamas was formed with the goal of destroying
Israel, or that their founding charter contains this objective as their primary
goal, or that their maps show no Israel, or that Iran has warned them not to
accept any cease-fire, or that they are puppets of Iran and financed by them,
or that they are hiding among and behind women and children, etc., etc., etc.
Finkelstein's claim, "That is to say, Hamas was signaling they had joined the
international consensus, they had joined most of the international community,
overwhelmingly the international community, in seeking a diplomatic
settlement." is pure intestinal waste product. Which is why the PA and Fatah
oppose Hamas and are secretly cheering for Israel to finish the job, which they
were unable to do.
Israel should not accept a cease fire unless there is a UN force deployed to
monitor the cease fire and that Egypt seals its borders from arms smugglers.
All Hamas will use a cease fire for is to re-group and re-arm.
In my opinion, unles Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad are neutralized or
eliminated there will be no peace in the region.
If Bibi Netanyahu gets elected P.M. of Israel, there is nothing Obama will be
able to do to influence Israel, unless he can get the Arabs to formally accept
Israel's right to exist in peace and security, which most of them, except,
Jordan, Egypt and the PA have never done.
